The individual beliefs, traits, behavioral responses are no longer predictable and are different from what they had been. The person with dementia may not understand their diagnosis and it causes them to feel confused. This will cause this individual to become upset, angry and quickly agitated and irritated when others do not understand them. The person may be unable to complete some daily task due to mental or physical limitations.

The family will try to empathize with their loved ones diagnoses, but it is hard when they do not fully comprehend the disease’s progress. At times, the family member starts to be confused and stressed about their role and how to approach each day. Burn out is a common outcome for these family members that take on the task of being the sole provider.
